The premium choice for heavy-duty gears. Contains 1.25% Nickel which provides exceptional core toughness. It allows for deep hardening, making it ideal for large gears (Crown wheels, Pinions) that face high shock loads.
A versatile carburizing steel often used as a cost-effective alternative to En353 for medium-duty applications. It offers a hard wear-resistant case with a strong, ductile core. The most popular grade for general automotive gears.
Replaced En353 in many modern applications. 20MnCr5 relies on Manganese and Chromium for hardening rather than Nickel. It is excellent for parts requiring a tensile strength of 1000 - 1300 N/mm². Very stable during heat treatment.
Similar to 20MnCr5 but with lower carbon content (0.16%). This results in a slightly softer core but significantly higher toughness. Chosen for gears that experience sudden impact loads where a harder core might crack.
